History
The Levine Campus opened for classes in fall 1998. It was the second full-service campus to open away from the Central Campus. The campus now has three connected buildings and an automotive center. It is a 375,000-square-foot, mall-type design, with all services under the same roof. The current facility offers classes in a variety of programs.
High Schools Near the Campus
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) high schools close to the Levine Campus are Ardrey Kell, Butler, East Mecklenburg, Independence, and Providence.
The Levine Middle College High School
This partnership between Central Piedmont and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is designed for high school juniors and seniors who want to complete their high school graduation requirements while earning college credit through Central Piedmont. The Levine Middle College High School opened in spring 2014. Some students may graduate with both their high school diploma and associate degree after their 12th-grade year, while others choose to remain at Central Piedmont for a 13th year to complete those credentials or earn a technical certification to begin a career. Major Programs/Courses Offered
Classes offered on Levine Campus are both college credit curriculum courses and non-credit continuing education courses. Most of the curriculum classes are general education courses for students seeking transfer to four-year colleges or for students seeking to complete a variety of associate degree and certificate programs. Also housed at the Levine Campus are degree programs in Automotive Systems Technology, Nurse Aide, andMedical Assisting. A wide array of Corporate and Continuing Education non-degree and non-transfer courses and programs also are offered for those wishing to acquire professional workplace credentials, training, and skills or explore areas of personal interest. Corporate and Continuing Education courses have various starting and ending dates, course lengths, and subjects. They are designed to meet the community's needs at large and range from mandatory licensure updates to personal enrichment, recreation, and leisure classes.
Services
Students at any Central Piedmont campus can find the service they need at any campus, including information about applying to the College, getting guidance on what classes to register for, support for academic program selection, and information about how to be a successful student. These support functions include, but are not limited to: getting started at Central Piedmont with a student Navigator (they support applying to the College, admissions, and registration), academic advising, career services, library services, cashiering, financial aid, Military Families & Veterans Services, student engagement, disability and access services, tutoring, security, and a food pantry. Food service is available on campus and includes a coffee shop, a sandwich shop, and a variety of vending locations. The campus also houses a campus store that sells course materials for students.
Facilities
Located beside a small pond, the Levine Campus is made of three large, connected buildings in addition to the Joe Hendrick Center for Automotive Technology, with adjacent parking. The campus has more than 125 state-of-the-art smart classrooms seating a variety of class sizes (from 18 to 95 seats). The campus has a variety of spaces where students can gather to study alone or in groups, connect with their friends, and wireless connections to the internet are available across the campus. The facility also includes two art studio spaces, four biology and four chemistry flex labs, one geology lab, two student technology centers, two dance/aerobics rooms, a fitness/weight room, the Academic Success Center for tutoring, and testing and course placement services. The Levine III building includes the Georgia Tucker Fine Arts Hall, a black box multipurpose performing arts theater which seats 146 people, and a state-of-the-art Health Careers instructional center.
Joe Hendrick Center for Automotive Technology
The Joe Hendrick Center for Automotive Technology on the Levine Campus was made possible by a generous donation from Rick Hendrick. The center is a46,700 square foot high-tech instructional facility that houses the Automotive Systems Technology curriculum program, and a NATEF Master certified automotive training program. The center also is home to home to a variety of specialized manufacturer-based training programs, suchas BMW, GM, and Honda. For those looking for a career and aspiring to be automotive technicians, the Joe Hendrick Center provides top-tier training and is a resource for those technicians who seek to upgrade their automotive skills and knowledge. Electrical and fuel labs in the Joe Hendrick Center feature cutting-edge automotive system training simulators that can be programmed and diagnosed. The computer lab offers students the most current repair data from OE manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers, many of which partner with the college for training. More than 30 late-model vehicles are used as training aids in lab environments. The Joe Hendrick Center is a full-line training facility.
Public Transportation
Charlotte Area Transit Service (CATS) offers direct service to the campus. Refer to the Charlotte Area Transit Service website or other online transportation planning resources for route planning and additional information. The campus is located at 2800 Campus Ridge Road, and is easily accessible by I-485 and US 74.
